Brevan Music emerged in 2004 in order to release a 1954 Christmas hit recording of David Whitfield’s Santo Natale on CD. This was an ambitious charity project and we have now sold over 10,000 copies and raised £20,000 for Cancer Research UK. In December 2004 we reached Number 21 in the Indie Charts.

Discovering a huge fan base for the late David Whitfield’s superb tenor voice, we released two albums of previously unreleased live music recorded in clubs, theatres and television studios – David Whitfield Live and More David Whitfield Live.

These have also proved extremely popular. We then teamed up with Karl Adams of Digital Disc Duplication and The Squad (local musicians from Bury St Edmunds) to produce a football anthem for the 2006 World Cup – England is the Name. We had lots of media coverage for this CD and it was played as the background music to the football news on Anglia’s Look East. Had we stayed in the World Cup for longer, this could have been a massive hit!! Profits from the David Whitfield Live CDs were channelled into promoting local talent. We were delighted to sign Angie Diggens who was a finalist on Stars in Their Eyes as Sarah Brightman. Angie is a versatile entertainer and for her debut CD - If they could see me now - she chose songs from the musicals.

For the past 2 years we have been negotiating with Universal Music Operations Limited to license a 1975 David Whitfield album called Hey There. It was his last album before his untimely death in 1980. We have now received a licence to produce this album as a CD and it is now in production and due for release on the 22nd October 2007.

Earlier this year we were invited to The Twist where British Standard were performing and was so impressed we signed them to the label. This is our first venture into original Indie music and we are finding it to be a very exciting venture. British Standard are an original Indie band from Essex. Their debut EP – Scoundrel - is due for official release on the 26th September 2007 with a Single to follow later in the year (Date TBC. If you want to check them out or find their gig dates, visit www.myspace.com/britishstandard . )
