Hey
There it’s David Whitfield was originally
released in 1975 on the Philips label and it was to be his last
studio recorded album before his untimely death in 1980. It contains
many song titles not available on any other CD and the arrangements
and orchestral backing are rather special. The CD has been
digitally remastered but for sentimental reasons we have reproduced
the original album cover as faithfully as possible. On this CD
David gives a wonderful rendition of The Impossible Dream. Also
fans will enjoy his famous On The March Medley, which was a special
feature in his cabaret act.
Thanks to one of
David Whitfield’s biggest fans, Graham Hurry, we have been able
include on this CD two live recordings, one of which is probably the
only known recording of David singing Mama unaccompanied. The
recording was made on April 5th 1975 at the Civic Theatre,
Mansfield, a short time after Hey There was first released. We have
a copy of the theatre programme which mentions the new album.
